Are you going on holiday with the whole family or are you going to winter sport? Then you may need extras with your car rental. You can also opt for a GPS or a Traveltab. You always pay these extras at the local rental location and the availability depends on the rental supplier. Only the No-Risk Warranty is a warranty that is offered by us. Baby and child seats and booster seats can be booked at almost all locations. In some cases, the extras are listed as one option and sometimes these options are listed separately. What kind of seat your child needs varies by law per country and sometimes even by state. All child seats offered at the locations meet the legal requirements and fit in all vehicles. At the location, they help you to determine which child seat fits best so that everyone can travel safely.

The rental cars are mostly quite new, but did you know that this does not necessarily mean that you can use the navigation system for free? You can pre-book a navigation device so you never get lost. The navigation systems are available in the language of the country and in most cases also in English.

If you rent a car in the US or Canada, then they probably give you the option to reserve a TravelTab Navigator or a TravelTab Adventurer instead of a regular navigation system. The TravelTabs are the more extensive tablet versions of the regular navigation system and offer other options in addition to navigation. For example, a translation app, discount shop, travel apps and in the case of the TravelTab Adventurer also a WiFi hotspot and 60 credits for calling and texting.

If you are going on a (winter sports) trip, you can choose to book snow tires, snow chains and / or ski racks. These options on the rental car are always on request and are not always available for additional booking. It may also not be installed on the rental car itself. Please contact our customer service department to request these options for your rental car.

Not all options can be booked in advance. These include options such as the young drivers’ fee, additional drivers, toll passes and additional, optional local insurance. Make sure you have a good overview of which options you want to book and which you don't so that you can travel with a relaxed feeling. Do you have any questions? The maindriver must present a credit card in his or her name in order to pick up the car, this is required for the deposit. In the terms and conditions you can find the accepted credit cards. When collecting the rental car, the amount of the deposit is debited or blocked on the credit card. In most cases this will be around the amount of the excess/ deductible for the car, but it can also be less. The deposit is necessary for the rental company to pay uninsured damages or theft of the car. If you return your rental car without any damages or other issues, the deposit will be released or refunded. The amount of the deposit depends on the carrental company, the car category and the pickup location. This information can be found in the terms and conditions. Keep in mind that the limit on your creditcard is sufficient. When you opt for our No-Risk-warranty, a deposit will be reserved by the rental company at the pickup location. This is because the warranty is serviced by RNTaCar and the pickup location doesn’t know about this. If you have any damages, the amount can be claimed with us afterwards.

Before you go, it is advisable to check the amount of the deductible / excess amount of the rental car, to be sure that your limit on your creditcard is sufficient. The amount of the deductible is stated in the terms and conditions of the country and the supplier and also on the carrental voucher. We can imagine you do not want to drive the whole trip yourself. At the location you can book an additional driver to your rental car agreement. 

For some destinations there is a surcharge for an additional driver, most of the times at a small amount in Euro’s or Dollars per day. Good news for additional drivers in the USA: if you can prove you are married or you live together in the same house, you can add additional drivers for free.

All drivers should personally sign the rental agreement and show their driver’s licence. The primary driver should have a valid credit card in his/her name. In New York also additional drivers should be carrying a valid credit card.

During your car trip you do not want to worry about a thing. Your comfort is our concern. And about fuel you do not want to worry in the least. In Europe it’s clear but for other destinations you get a few options at the location. You can choose for comfort, employees of the location fill the tank or you choose for a more affordable option and you take care you have a full tank when you drop off the rental car.

In Europe it’s always the full to full policy. This means you pick up the car with a full tank and you drop off the car with a full tank again. If you go to a petrol station mind that this not more than 10 kilometers from the drop off location. Also keep the receipt as a prove of payment.

When you pick up your car you get a few options concerning the fuel policy:

• Full to Full. This is the already described option as in Europe, you get your rental car with a full tank and that’s the way you drop it off too. This is always the most affordable option.
• Full to Empty prepaid. With this option you also get your car filled with fuel. You pay at the pick up for a full tank. This will be added to your rental agreement under Fuel Service Option. They always clearly display the price per gallon (almost 4 liters). You pay a little extra compared to a petrol station and non used petrol is not refunded. So you pay a little extra for the comfort of having somebody else to fuel te car.
• If you do not make a choice at the pick up but you still drop it off with a (partly) empty tank you also pay for a refill but those costs are significantly higher as with the other options.

It is possible to drop off your rental car at a time when the office is closed. If agreed with the location you can leave the keys in a drop off box. You park your car at a designated place before leaving the car keys. Every location has such a drop box. Please be aware that you remain responsible for the condition of the car until the employee of the location picked up the keys and did an inspection to the car. It is advised to take pictures of the car all around to avoid discussions afterwards.

In Europe and the United States, many roads have tolls. Unfortunately, we do not have the influence on the amounts payable at tolls. We can however facilitate the passage of tolls, especially in the United States. If you rent a car in the United States in an area with toll roads, you will often be offered different toll passes that will save you time. Please inquire at the local agency. The pass must be purchased locally and payment will take place afterwards.
