Explore versatile Portugal with your rental car. Most people go to Portugal for the amazing beaches, sea, and pleasant temperatures. Understandable, but Portugal has a lot more to offer. In addition, you can see more of the beautiful country when you rent a car. This way you can combine the idyllic villages with the beaches and lively cities. We are happy to give you some tips!

Porto

Porto is located in the northwest of Portugal on the Costa Verde. The breathtaking beaches, cozy streets, historic places, and many restaurants are recognizable for the city. The port city is known for the port wine that is aged in Vila Nova de Gaia. Stroll through Ribeira and have a glass of wine on the terrace while you watch the boats sail by. Visit the Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art and the magical garden that comes with it.

Lisbon

An absolute must-visit is of course the capital Lisbon. In about three hours with your rental car, you arrive from Porto in this lively city. The city's rich history can be found in the colorful cathedrals, monasteries, and museums. Lisbon is located near the Atlantic Ocean and is therefore the perfect destination for city and beach lovers. Visit the immense Praça do Comércio, also known as the Palace Square, and climb Castelo de São Jorge.

Faro

In two and a half hours drive from Lisbon, you arrive in the cozy and beautiful city of Faro. Faro is a port city in the Algarve, in the south of Portugal. Faro is known for the old, classic atmosphere that you will find there. Visit the Faro Cathedral from 1251 where you can climb up and have a beautiful view over the streets of Faro. Also visit the Arco da Vila, largely designed by the architect Francisco Xavier Fabri.

Dona Ana in Algarve

The Portuguese region of Algarve is located in the south of Portugal and borders the Atlantic Ocean. The beaches in the Algarve are among the best in the world. The endless white-sand beaches, impressive rock formations that rise from the sea, and the beauty of the Atlantic Ocean make it a dreamy place. Sunbathe on Dona Ana in Lagos where the rock formations sometimes turn red to golden yellow. Don't forget your snorkel!

Praia de Rocha in Portimao

Just an hour's drive from Faro is the cute fishing village of Portimao. The town is best known for its delicious fresh fish dishes and extensive beaches. The beaches, including Praia de Rocha, are golden and surrounded by beautiful rocks. Bring a book and cool off in the calm water. In the evening, you can explore the vibrant nightlife of Praia da Rocha!

Cascais near Lisbon

For many residents of Lisbon, charming Cascais is the perfect place to unwind and relax. It is one of the most municipalities in Portugal. With two small beaches, historic buildings, and beautiful shopping streets, Cascais offers you everything you need! The beach is a secluded bay where you see many fishing boats and yachts. Don't forget to take a walk on the promenade!
